The Old Homestead B&B accommodation at Byresteads Farm near Lorton and Cockermouth consists of a stunning renovation of a traditonal Cumbrian long house. The property is full of character and Olde World charm but has been designed with comfort in mind. The light and airy rooms have exposed beams complimented by Oak furniture, and slate floors warmed by underfloor heating.The Old Homestead is completely self contained and has a large welcoming communal lounge and seperate breakfast room. Your hosts come over in the mornings and make you a traditional Cumbrian breakfast (vegetarian option available) or continental breakfast to ready you for the days events.
Byerstead offers a relaxing haven for visitors to the area. For those people interested in walking, Lorton Vale leads to some of the most magnificent mountains and walks in Britain. Head past Crummock Water towards Newlands pass, Honister pass and Borrowdale valley. From here you have easy access to Scafell Pike, Great Gable and other superb Lakeland fells.
