Description
Woodside is a 100 year old property set in almost an acre of mature grounds boasting views of Grizedale pike and surrounding hills. Ideally situated away from the busy town centre yet only a short walk down the C2C footpath to the town, the property has been extensively refurbished. All five rooms - doubles, twins and a family room, which sleeps four - are a good size and all have en-suites. Children over the age of four are welcome. For the comfort of our guests we are totally non-smoking. Well-behaved dogs are welcome by prior arrangement. We have a large private car park and for those who are using cycles we have secure storage, hosepipe, and repair stand and associated tools should they be required.

You are always assured of a warm welcome at Woodside and after a hearty breakfast you can plan your day. Being keen walkers, climbers and cyclists ourselves, we can give advice on all these activities. Many walks can be started from the door so you can forget about your car and walk up Latrigg and Skiddaw. You can also walk up to Walla Crag and beyond, and Castlerigg Stone Circle is only a 10-minute walk away. For the particularly adventurous cyclists, Skiddaw is the longest descent in the UK (and the longest uphill push!). There are also many other easier routes. A short drive down Borrowdale Valley there is climbing to suit every ability, much of it within easy access of the road. For the flyers our rooms are large enough to accommodate your kit and you can fly from Skiddaw, Walla Crag and Wolf Crag, to name but a few.
